Exhibition time

It is finally here! The exhibition time, the night we all worked hard for! I am very proud of everyone, I think everyone did an amazing job, has an amazing work and I am honoured to be part of the exhibition and the class. In my opinion room looks amazing, work is the main focus which was important, and everything else is in perfect order. I hope everyone else feels the same!

Last minute changes

As we had some difficulties meeting the deadline, we had to do some last minute changes. Basically both room concepts needed to be placed in one room. We all tried to work together to do the best we can. The flooring was done, carped was taped with double-sided tape so it is safe and secure, both tables for screens and work are placed and skirting put on the top of the carpet. After that was done people from Nexos lighting did the lighting and all in all came even better than it looked before. Everyone has the place for its work, everything was filled with work and the room is ready to go!

Lighting

After everything has being done, the construction and installation of lighting was being done. The lights are placed just on the stands, just above the artworks. The lighting used is very subtlle, and when the lights are off looks very good, and can guide people in the right direction. After the lighting is being done, what we have left is the floor, which is already organised and done. We are going to place our artworks on the spaces provided and enjoy the exhibition and the great opportunity which we were given by this institute! I hope everyone else will enjoy as much as we. :)

Rooms almost ready

The rooms are almost finished. When it comes to the stands, walls, carpeting in the other room is done and finalised. When we have left is to do a flooring in the first room, lighting in both rooms and to place the artwork in the places provided. Posters are being sent all together for printing so they can be ready and done all in the same time.

More progress

The wall with the screen is being covered with pallets so that we can actually use the screen. What is intention with that screen is to showcase the logo and the name of the exhibition which I think is a really good idea. The rooms are almost done, what we did was doing some final touches, cleaning the floors again to make sure there is not any paint on, as well as the sides of the wall.

Painting the wood for flooring

After all the shelving and tables were done in both of the rooms provided, the idea about the grey flooring was being brought up. Since we had the wood cut  for the floor, what we did was painted the pieces in the color provided and mixed by lecturer Mr. Mamo. I really liked this idea, and I enjoyed painting the wood pieces, but unfortunately this idea was being removed, after almost all the pieces were being done. I still wished we did use them, the colour and the texture of the wood came really good, and it would look good in the first room as well.

Almost there

For the second room of the exhibition the similar concept was being adapted. The same pallet stands were hang on the walls, and there were placed two tables in each section of the room. One of the tables will be for printed work and another table for the work which will be shown on the screens. Both of the tables are made out of wood but in a different ways. The first one is rectangular, "hanging" from the ceiling and the other one (the one for the screens) is circle shaped one with very unique base. I love the idea of both tables, and I think them came looking really good, and they serve the purpose very well as well.
